Edwardsville attorney and part time Madison County public defender Ronald R. Slemer will be appointed associate judge in the Third Judicial Circuit.
The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts made the announcement in a press release today.
Associate judges are selected by vote among the court’s elected circuit judges.
Fifteen attorneys had applied for the associate judge vacancy that had been created upon the appointment of Associate Judge James Hackett to circuit judge in June.
The circuit judge vacancy that Hackett filled was created when former Circuit Judge Ann Callis resigned in May to pursue a congressional campaign.
Slemer received his undergraduate degree in 1976 from the University of Illinois and his juris doctorate in 1980 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
